Hire a professional diver

Hi I’m Richard Steele, I was born and raised in Beaufort, and I want to personally look after your vessel.

With 10 years of experience as a commercial diver, I have had the opportunity to work on a wide range of complex marine and industrial projects. Beginning at the birthplace of commercial diving- Santa Barbara, to the offshore platforms in the Gulf of America, and throughout Savannah, Georgia and the Southeast.

My experience includes marine construction, commercial, civil, industrial, and archeological salvage. Decomissioning derelict oil platofrms in the Gulf. Military contracting with the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard. Maintaining operations of power plants, paper mills, and dredges. Large ship dry-docking, underwater running gear and shipside services- for everything from 300ft mega yachts to tugboats and container ships. Diving for the Army Corps of Engineers, including salvaging the cannons from a scuttled 1770’s British warship HMS Savannah which are restored and displayed at the Savannah Historical Museum.

I have been heavily involved in the construction and maintenance of the Reoxygenation Plant, the construction of CB-1, OT-1, and other various GPA demolition and construction for the Geogia Port Expansion Project. Certified SERTC emergency response diver for Canada Pacific Railroad, for train derailments involving marine recovery of hazmat cars.

That background has given me the skills, experience, and attention to detail to work confidently around valuable vessels and critical underwater equipment.

I started Steele Dive & Marine Services to bring that same level of professional commercial-diving experience home to Beaufort and the Lowcountry. My goal is simple: provide dependable, professional underwater services that help protect your vessel, improve its performance, and keep it in the water where it belongs.

I take pride in doing the job correctly, and I bring that same standard to every vessel I service.
